Poker is one of the most popular card games played by over 100 millions of players all over the world. There exist different variants in Poker, and the most popular is: Texas Hold’em.
This variant was established at Robstown in Texas as its name mentions at the beginning of the 20th century. Now, in the start of the 21st century, online poker has grown more popular.
How do we play Texas Hold’em?
As the original version of poker, it is played with 52 cards and the goal is to win the bets, symbolized by chips, of your opponent.
At the beginning of the game that welcomes 2 to 10 Players, the Dealer distributes, as to each of the participants, 2 cards called «closed», which are unique to you and of which you are the only one to know the value. Then it has in the center of the carpet 5 common cards, faces visible by all. By mixing your game with them, you need to create the strongest hand by finding the best possible combination with up to 5 cards. Or make it look like you have a better combination of cards than the other participants. The whole trick is to know when to give up (lie down), follow or raise. Four rounds of maximum bidding and the remaining players in the line-up draw their cards.
The strongest hand wins the game or the best bluffer if the others have gone to bed before.
Within Texas Hold’em, it exists different variants which are :
- Limit Texas Hold’em : A predetermined bet limit is applied to each bidding round.
- No limit Texas Hold’em : A player can wager any amount of chips, up to his mat.
- Mixed Texas Hold’em : The game alternates the turns of Limit Texas Hold’em and No Limit Texas Hold’em.
- Pot Limit Texas Hold’em : A player can wager any amount, within the pot limit.
The blinds
In Hold’em, a disc called the «button» or the «dealer button» indicates which player is the dealer for the current game. Prior to the start of the game, the player immediately to the left of the button places a “small blind” (or “small blind”), which is the first forced bet. The player who is immediately to the left of the small blind puts a «big blind» (or «big blind»), which usually corresponds to twice the size of the small blind. However, the size of the blinds may vary depending on the auction and bet structure.
